SPARK - The Creative scholarship program from Burns Marketing Communications

Stiff competition. Big pay-off.

Designed to help college and graduate students ignite their marketing careers, Spark – the creative scholarship program from Burns Marketing Communications gives students real-world marketing experience. Through the program, the students had the unique opportunity to develop a comprehensive marketing campaign for Discovery Science Center (DSC), a non-profit, hands-on science and technology museum in Fort Collins.

Who had what it takes to ignite a creative fire?
Juniors, seniors and graduate school students pursuing degrees in a creative field from top Colorado and Wyoming educational institutions participated in the first annual contest. Each student was asked to submit two creative campaign concepts for the DSC. Based on overall creativity, feasibility, and insight, the three students who showed the most creative potential were selected to continue to the second phase of the contest. These students then had only a few short weeks to present ideas for actual campaign implementation.

Top Colorado marketing professionals judged the final presentations using creativity, feasibility, and presentation skills as the overall criteria. Throughout the contest, applicants showed tremendous talent and creativity, but only one was relentlessly insightful.
