The Challenge:

Catch the attention of IT decision-makers along the Colorado Front Range and encourage them to meet with Vista Solutions about migrating from Sun servers to an industry-standard solution. As Oracle had recently announced plans to purchase Sun Microsystems, these customers were facing high levels of uncertainty surrounding their Sun servers.

The Solution:

Create an impossible-to-ignore direct mail campaign that would drive recipients to a landing page where they could request a meeting with Vista Solutions and its partners – Microsoft, IBM, Intel, and Ingram Micro.

Burns Marketing developed a campaign centered on helping CIOs improve their game. Each targeted CIO received a box indicating that Vista Solutions and its partners could help them overcome the hassles of transitioning from Oracle. Inside the box was a putter cover and card inviting recipients to set up a meeting with Vista Solutions. In return, they would receive the Odyssey putter that matched the cover.

The Results:

The campaign helped generate positive responses to follow-up calls from sales representatives and aided them in setting up meetings with key decision-makers. As a further testament to the campaign’s success, Vista Solutions is leveraging the campaign to target new customers for additional IT solutions.
